Devkund - A get over journey
Everyone wishes Sunday mornings are extended till noon especially when Saturday nights are sleepless. You've got no option left but wakeup as you already had planned a trekking with roomies. Everything was as per plan except we woke up an hour late. Planned royal breakfast had to be cut down to minimal idli wada south Indian package.
We rushed to zoom car pickup point crossing thin rainy threads. Red Swift was a good option for the ride. Without wasting time we started our drive off to Devkund falls.

Rain was turning heavier as the journey progressed. 'First cut is the deepest' of Bryan Adams was rhythmically poking my heart with a pointy knife. I was enjoying the solitude filled with thickest pain even though I was surrounded by my best buddies. I'd myself created a bubble of loneliness to camp inside.
Nature is a magician I thought, it paints the surroundings different shades of green using colorless raindrops. Only time helps nature do this. I hoped time would help my heart do the same magic to paint shades of happiness over long and wide wall of melancholy.
My so called practical brain was sending a stream of rational thoughts to heal the wounded heart. 'When you didn't fight for what you love, you have no right to cry for what you lost' was the most prominent one which helped me break the bubble and join the gang.
By noon we reached starting point of Devkund falls. Neighborhood was awesome. Every house had cattles, chickens and dogs. It reminded me of my native. There was a huge crowd already moving towards waterfall like an army of ants. It was a long two and a half hour walk to reach destination. In between we came across grass fields, trees, rivers, water streams, muds, steep climbs and many more what western ghats could offer. Though the walk was tiring, greenery and murmuring of birds cheered us; gurgling of streams and thunderous crashing of waterfall freshened our mind giving strength to our legs.
Nature was having her mood swings as if she was a girl in her periods. Sometimes she shined and smiled; sometimes she was moody with dark clouds; sometimes she drizzled; and most of the times she was crying nonstop.
As we reached halfway, we could see hilltop at a distance from where the waterfall originated. There was a lonely tree standing near us looking at the sky. It looked like sky was in love with the tree. Oxytocin made blood rush to the cheeks - clouds - of sky which turned darker. Sky sent kisses in the form of rain drops. Tree took it on her leaves with affection and care. Messenger of the sky - wind - murmured romantic message of sky into ear of the tree. It gave her goosebumps all over and she shivered. People who were resting under the tree got a nice shower.
Thunderous crashing of waterfall was getting louder and louder as we walk closer to the destination. Cheering of public was nowhere in comparison to the sound of waterfall. Finally we've reached our destination. There was a small pool formed down the fall and water flew from pool making it a strong stream downwards further. There was fog filled around the hilltop. It was as if sky itself came down in its chariot to meet the earth. Energy filled in our body and mind as we saw water fall from hilltop like it was spraying milk downstream. Wind made falling water look like flying feathers.
Getting down into the pool was never an easy task. Flowing water pulled us downwards as we started swimming. Heartbreak didn't deprive my eyes from admiring beautiful girls taking bath in the pool. I swimmed near to point where water touched the ground. Water flow was pulling me away so strong. Water falling on me felt like someone running peacock feather and spraying rosewater on my body. I got a heavenly shower that only nature could offer.
We walked back after spending a couple of hours in the pool; one of the best two hours in our life. Energy to walk back was the freshness given by the fall and soothing memories. We started journey back to home by seven but it took five hours to reach, thanks to the infamous traffic in Mumbai.
Beauty and love of nature are the best medicine for your inner wounds. Let's preserve this for generations to come.
